Let’s stick our noses into a beautiful bouquet today. This delicate bunch includes Clary Sage, Geranium, Lavender, Helichrysum, Roman Chamomile, and Ylang Ylang: the floral oils! I’m not sure about you, but for me, learning how to pronounce the name of an oil is the first step in learning how to use it effectively. Ylang Ylang, pronounced ee-lang ee-lang, is literally the star: this essential oil is derived from the star-shaped flowers of the tropical Ylang Ylang tree. (Practice saying it a few times, and you’ll soon be a pro.) This star-studded dōTERRA floral oil is about to steal the show as we use it to create two homemade sprays.
Using a homemade essential oil perfume is a bold and rewarding step in purging your home of synthetic fragrances, and wearing oils as a natural fragrance allows you and your loved ones to enjoy their aromatic advantages throughout the day! Blend any oils together to create the scent you desire - a favorite diffuser blend is a great starting point. This Floral Perfume Spray combines the warm notes of Ylang Ylang with fresh citrus aromas.
You’ll need:
10 drops Jasmine
10 drops Wild Orange
10 drops Lemon
5 drops Ylang Ylang
1 tablespoon witch hazel
¼ cup water
Combine witch hazel and water in a small glass spray bottle and shake. Add essential oils and mix thoroughly. Mist scent over body or clothes to create your desired aroma. Mix well before each use. Shelf-life is approximately one to two weeks; keep refrigerated to extend shelf-life.
Ylang Ylang is also useful in promoting and protecting silky, healthy locks. This Leave-In Conditioning Spray can be used in both blistering summer heat and dry winter months.
You’ll need:
3 parts distilled water
2 ½ tablespoons vegetable glycerin
1 tablespoon Fractionated Coconut Oil
1 tablespoon rose water
2 drops Ylang Ylang essential oil
3 drops Rosemary essential oil
Combine all ingredients in an eight-ounce glass spray bottle. Shake well and spray over damp hair after your normal shampoo and conditioner routine. Do not rinse. Style hair as usual.
Now you have two new ways to compose your own aromatic bouquet using sweet, rich, spicy Ylang Ylang. Get blissfully lost in dōTERRA’s enchanting garden of floral oils!
